Re: Alice Springs........safety concern
ozjohn wrote: Queensmanian, Posting a letter of complaint to the Oz Parks Head office will be a waste of time, as the 'Heritage' is no longer a member of the Oz Parks chain. The new park owners will however continue to honour Oz Parks Member Discounts until the end of the year as a legal requirement. Cheers, ozjohn. Your good fortune ozjohn. That explains why the "Oz Parks" sign is half adrift and flapping in the breeze. Perhaps you should request that they remove it properly.

Re: Alice Springs........safety concern
I stay at the Heritage often and have noticed a huge improvement since the new owners have taken over, they have even installed the latest coin operated Dog Wash like the ones you see in the car wash places.
There are also some new cabins put in and the problem trees have been removed.
Macdonald Range caravan park is great especially with the ensuite sites which we just love but its just a bit expensive and they wont allow dogs.
I have always felt safe in the Caravan Parks in Alice.

If "Alice" worries you I would hate to be your Ulcers when you visit a few other places in Aus. We spent six weeks at the Transport Hall of Fame and apart from black lightning one night we didn't have a problem.

Re: Alice Springs........safety concern
We spent a week at the Top Tourist park, Wintersun, in July and had no issues. We did hear some shouting from across the paddocks but at no time did we feel any concern.
As far as being in town, we were treated with courtesy and respect by all members of the Alice community and, again, felt no sense of unease day or night.
BTW, when you are in Alice Springs, make sure you set aside a day to visit the Desert Park. It is a worth the time, especially if you finish off the day with the birds of prey show. Fantastic.
