Stayed there for 7 nights. Found it excellent. Ample room on sites and other areas. Terrific swimming pool with a great waterslide. Terrific camp kitchen with lots of old relics (not nomads) including a tractor.

The park grounds include a creek with waterbirds. Under 2 kms to large shopping centre. The only downside is the train noise. They trundle past in the distance making a rumbling sound. We got used to that pretty quickly. Gracemere is a small town about 10 kms away from Rocky.

Aww come on OT, we don't make THAT much noise. Loaded- eastbound- there should be bugger all, as if driven correctly, they should be in idle, just coasting along. And empty- westbound- they are only in a couple of notches.

Bundy, it is not the loco engine noise. It is the rumbling from the kilometre of coal trucks in tow.

At least there were no loco hooters going off in the wee hours :)

Yeah, you do get that. Lucky they hadn't recently run a rail grinder over the track. Then it really does hum. No level crossings in the vicinity, so no horns.

And 1700 metres, actually.

The railway noise didnt worry me, unfortunatley there were no double heading Garrets running when we stayed there...

I think a Plassermatic would make more noise than a grinder, they pick up the track give it a good shake then realign it and repack the ballast, very non quiet, usually done on Sunday evenings...
