just planning a trip Nth. soon and was wondering if anyone can give me a road condition report on the unsealed section of this route. Is it suitable for caravans?.

If you are talking about Lake Elphinstone then we can recommend the free camp at the lake. Great spots right down on the water edge, and they were building new amenities there last August. One tip, I would not take the road from Moranbah to the lake. Shocking 5 plus klms of ungraded dirt road pass the mines.
Better to come in from Nebo.
Also a great site at Theresa Dam about 20 klms out of Clermont. Qld.

did a section of this road yesterday - only went about 15k's from Burdekin dam on the Collinsville Rd and its very corrugated in places. There are a lot of cattle being trucked out from this area so it is expected to get worse. We are working on a station in this area
