yep bitumen 2klms past laura now, and yes there r survey groups above laura as well, considering the amount of traffic, once u clear Hann river, the road is pretty good, but again its about TIRE pressures and Speed, if u dont, ur in for some real damage to ur Tug & Van,

We set our Tug & Van at 25 pound all round as we left Laura, and kept our speed well below 70 klms and hr, even though in many places u could do alot more.

It took us 3 days on steady progression from Cairns to reach Loyalty beach on the 3rd day, about lunchtime. Our 1st night was Musgrove Station, 2nd Bramwell Homestead Tourist Park

The toughest section was the last 2klms to the barge at Jardine crossing, 6 inch corrugations, 5 klms an hr and just keep moving threw it, was the only way for us.

P.S l agree, lam not sure l want to c tar all the way to the top either, its part of the Mystic of the trip to the tip

Fruit bat falls, words defeat me, u can drive ur tug & van to the carpark, plenty of space, for all, but no camping allowed,

one of the many hi-lights of the trip back from the tip.
