Tamworth Country Music Festival

Post by dieseltojo » Mon Oct 24, 2016 8:36 am

Have any members attended Tamworth Country Music Festival?

I have read so many views re disappointment with sites, heat, noisy camps etc, it's a bit hard to read between the lines.

We try not to travel into the hotter areas as my wife cant take the heat these days and I dislike a camp with every van having air conditioners running.
I would be inclined to front a farmer and pay for a spot in a paddock in the first instance, just to have a look at the festival. I have been there of course but not at music time.

So how did you folks find the experience. :)

Sort of answering myself here, but it can get warm.

But we get some of that in Melbourne too.

Though not really into country music we went with friends a few years ago. What disappointed me was the crowds, the profiteering and the lack of real facilities. Vans, motorhomes, tents, swags every square metre of space was being used. It's even bigger now with no real increase in space. Unless you have a spot booked now you will probably not find one. Even if you found a farmer who would let you camp on his land I'd bet there will be a dozen others there with you.

We have stayed here a few times, not when the festival was on, but when we stayed there, it was a nice quiet park and not that far from Tamworth. If you can't get anything closer try here.
I will not be going, Slim Dusty will not be there

We stayed at Katingal, just 15 or so km from Tamworth during the early part of the festival a few years ago, there were a few cancellations due to bushfires in Queensland from memory.
Nice clean park friendly staff.
