A great report Brenda.
It's good to see another town coming together and enticing travellers with genuine offers and facilities.
We've not been across that far yet, but it is on our 'to be done' list over the next coupla years.
You're obviously impressed with Newman, are you a local ?

I am afraid no - I am the project officer for the Pilbara Regional Council. We work closely with the local governments in the region. One of the projects is helping the towns to become "RV Friendly", as part of a broader tourism development project for the Pilbara

Just received my new CAW No' 9 edition and it has Newman Visitors Centre as No' 494 and Pt Hedland Racecourse as No' 418, no mention of the South Hedland Golf Course.
We hope to heading that way in June/July so will probably try them out.
Jeff.

Re: New RV Friendly town in Australia’s North West - Newman
My information on the South Hedland Golf Course was that the Golf Course is overflow unless you are travelling with pets, then you can use this at any time. The charges for 2016 were around $30 per night, so I expect outside of the range for Camps 9.
This information was brought to you by Australia so Much to See. See this and more on an informative travel website

O.K. that makes sense.
For $30.00 a night I would expect a game of golf to be included.
Looks like a "shop and go" for South Hedland.
