Yarloop....

Post by TramcarTrev » Sat Feb 13, 2016 11:25 am

As we all know the fires destroyed most of Yarloop. A very significant loss was the Steam Workshops; "Academic, Professor Lou Richards of Manchester University, after a visit described the facility as having "one of the finest examples of steam age engineering in the world."

An emotional vice president of the Yarloop Workshops, Carmel Hill, said from her refuge at the Bunbury Motel that she had fled the town with whatever valuables she could grab.

"We just didn't see this one coming," she told Radio 6PR's Gareth Parker.

"We made sure everything was secure at the workshops - but it's all lost now . . . all our heritage, 15 years of volunteering . . . all gone.""

If you are in the area swing by and make a donation. Enthusiasts used to come from all over the world to visit Yarloop.
A group of us visited in 2012 and it was quite an emotional and yet amazingly awesome place...
Seems that its the smaller the town the bigger its heart...

I now have to note that I cannot accept owners ship, truth, quality, or veracity, of articles I may quote off the internet.
