We don't do much free camping.

Do you get much of this when you free camp?

We camped at Newnes a few years ago in our A'van. It was quiet, peaceful and the scenery was breathtaking. We plan to go back but would never go on a holiday weekend. In fact we would avoid weekends altogether. We went there on a day trip last summer. It was like an oven. Definitely an autumn, winter or spring destination.

We camped at Newnes a few years ago and were unlucky enough to be around a group of country and western fanatics who played Slim Dusty ad nauseum until the wee hours and got about in various western costumes including big buckles on jeans and ten gallon hats.

Don't get me wrong...I am a country music officianado and have lots of country music in my collection. I have two guitars and actually play country music ( played in bands as a kid) but this was so hick and loud that while we copped it on Friday night ...on Saturday afternoon we got away from the loud conversations and the drunken behaviour and went home. Have not been to Newnes since. That would be 30 years ago.
