You interstate residents may not be aware we have a round of the world cycling championships. We are trying to get the world championship soon for pocket billiards. The cycle race went through Franks backyard.

You might have all that but Wagga has the world championship gumi races in March. :D :D :D

I googled gumi races and found something very exciting , rubber tubes made into boats. Have you made yours yet Neville ???
Just can imagine Nev and Trish paddling a well designed craft made out of old caravan tubes !!!!

This is a great day out. It started about 20 or more years ago as a way of raising money for some local charities but after a few years the old public liability issue raised it’s ugly head & it was stopped. :( :( It was brought back a couple of years ago & is bigger than it ever was. The only "rules" are that the watercraft must be supported by inner tubes & have no form of propulsion. You can have a tube & float down the river or build a monster with up to a dozen crew members. Some have fairly sophisticated water cannons to hose down their competition as well as other suitable ammo. There have been a few big battles take place with a bit of sabotage included on the way down the river. I think the distance is around 15 – 20 km’s. Sorry Mally we won’t be taking part because our caravan doesn’t have tubes..
Regards Neville….

No mate, we usually attend, but there was an important (or is that impotent  ) interstate visitor, in Strathalbyn and a few of us from another place met up with him, it’s usually a great day and fro what I heard it lived up to expectations.
we go there for the atmosphere, not for the race, that’s gone in 3 fashes, but the fun and frivolity goes on all afternoon
:D

Sorry Mally but SWMBO reckons the pocket billiards will have to be held in Canberra as that is where all the fiddles take place.

Grumps

Yeah! You’re pretty good Mally…You start an interesting post obviously hoping to stimulate Forum interest with some intelligent debate on an interesting caravanning subject and, in complete deference to your previous opinions about the Forum being too quiet etc., you go and ruin your own post with stupid, non-related, inane banter.
No wonder folk lose interest in the Forum.

My apologies for being O.T…..Let’s get back onto the subject.

Lighten up folks didn’t we find out about Adelaide cycle race and the Gumi races in Wagga. Having some fun on a hot day is that bad?????? Come on people how much can you say on some of these topics. If need be I will refrain from a bit of light humour and only comment in a serious and mature way. Bye bye
