You’ve got to Love these LNP parties -eh?

After all – it was little Johnny Howard who brought in the user pays fees for National Parks.

And then you have the premier in QLD who likes a Police state – while at the same time handing out record licences for Fracking.

Just once, just once, it would be so refreshing to see a Liberal party who had the concern of the nation at the front – instead of this big business / brother thing – so typical.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ shhh – ting!

This article is not about all free camps, only in Victoria’s national and state park campgrounds. Victorian Parks do not charge park entry fees whereas in New South Wales they have taken National Park charges to extremes with daily entry fees in the popular parks, plus the highest camping fees of any state.

Should Victorian Parks try and recover some costs from campers alone by charging camping fees, or should all park users pay by charging entry fees not camping fees? Some states charge both.

For those wishing to make submissions, you could consider suggesting that costs be recovered from a small park entry fee (or annual/seasonal pass) to many, rather than hitting a minority of park visitors – the campers.

This has absolutely nothing to do with political parties; otherwise you would be citing the mistomeaners of the Greens and Labor. Councils/shires, who we are told are apolitical, are also finding that there is a cash card out there wanting to stay over night in their area. For some on this forum, the sooner we have a dictator, of their choice of course, the better it will be. Then there are some "pip squeaks"!

Submissions closed 22 November 2013.
If the increases go through as they propose one coastal camp that was free since settlement will cost you $37.80 per night as of 1 March 2014. All that is there is a enviro long drop.
If the Liberal/Nationals insist on a user pays system they should reintroduce the entrance fees for day visitors to the National Parks that were abolished by the previous Labour State Government. If they target the free campers with a user pays system, the same should be applied to many other services.
They never consider tradition or culture when they just want to grab money.
I made a submission but I have got a feeling they all end up in the round file.
Is it time for us to stand up and be counted?

:-x
But that wasn’t political was it?

Why should anyone have to pay to stop on a vacant crown land?

Yes Gib, I think it is time for us to act, regardless whether submissions have closed or not, we collectively need to bombard, by email, those that think they know what is best for us. Have they forgotten there are elections coming up this year? to do so will be at their peril. All of us who love our camping and or caravan lifestyles need to send a very strong reminder that the parks are owned by us, the taxpayers, and we WILL do what we can to make sure they remain that way, and affordable for us to visit and stay in.
