Hi Norm
Have a look at the REDARC BMS1215s2

It is dc-dc charger, solar regulator,ac charger,MPPT,remote monitor and simple to install
Not cheap but I got a good deal from Frankies at Albion Park Rail
A comprehensive spec. available www.redarc.com.au
I installed my system 6 months ago and very happy

usual disclaimers

Yeah I have a Redarc BMS unit also – the bee’s knees that’s for sure.

We brought our solar panels from RFI industries
http://www.rfi.com.au/index.html
We brought 4x poly BP 125W 12 volt modules
Part number BP3125J
We got them cheap through a mate who is/was in the industry.
Check them out

Can’t say enough about the Redarc BMS unit. & its made here in AU

Hey Bronwyn,
I have to say I picked up a Redarc BMS 1215. As other have said a good unit, but a bit pricey.
Also run a 200w mono solar panel and 2 x 165amp AMG batteries. Look around on Ebay. I picked up the above lot for $2200. Installed myself and got the brother-inlaw to check as he’s an electrician.

good luck with your purchases.

This is the mob I brought our panels from.

Kyocera panels are top quailty products and this place is the cheapest I have found for them. The owner is also prepared to haggle if you buy a complete set up from him.

I wouldn’t waste my money on no name brand panels when you now can buy quality units for good prices.

Below is the mob I brought the panel mounting brackets from.

Good luck…

cheers …Turtle

Browny I try to explain a solar system like a rain water system

the solar panels are the roof, the bigger the roof the more rain you will collect (when it is raining)

the batteries are the water tank, the bigger the water tank the longer you can go without rain

the applinace/lights are the taps, the more you turn on the taps the bigger your tank must be

the regulator is the gutters and down pipes, they send the water to the tank, if they are under sized you could waste water when they overflow in a good rain shower,
a MPPT reg is like putting on extra large gutters and down pipes, it will cost more but you will never waste water

if any part of the system is too small you will require some back up

I thought posting in colour was against the rules!!
Has there been a change? If so, what else has changed???

Jock

Jock and others. Nothing has changed. Check the rules. Colour deleted and offenders warned.

Cheers
