GVM to ATM
Hi All Could someone advise me how to convert a GVM to ATM. My 2010 manual patrol has a GVM of 3030 and I would like to know what that would be in ATM.

Re: GVM to ATM
G'day Rick,
ATM does not apply to a vehicle. It's for trailers (caravans).
ATM = Aggregate Trailer Mass and is the total mass of the trailer when carrying the maximum load specified the manufacturer. It includes the load imposed on the towing vehicle i.e. the tow-ball load or force.
GVM = Gross Vehicle Mass and the maximum loaded mass of a vehicle.

Re: GVM to ATM
Rick, the other thing to watch is the GCM (gross combination mass) of your tug. The sum of the ATM and GVM is 5530 kg. With a van of only 2500 kg this is most likely well within your tugs GCM.

Re: GVM to ATM
Hi Sue & Rick,
Nissan Patrols tow weight is influenced via a sliding scale with the tow weight decreasing as vehicle load weight is increased. The vehicle's load is the sum of fuel, passenger and luggage weight and any other item including tow bars, bull bars and roof racks and their contents. The more the total weight of these items in and on the vehicle means the less that the vehicle is able to legally tow. Check with Nissan.
