…….. Clancy is also a girl’s name s……
What!! :o You mean that ‘Clancy of the Overflow’ was a Girl!?!

What does it matter Peter……..if Clancy is a girl, and Clancys name is Clancy, I reckon that makes Clancy a girls name.

And Clancy says so….”Clancy is also a girl’s name so that dual use is rather convenient for the users of this account”

Meanwhile, back @ the discussion………… Re: AN ALTERNATIVE OPTION FOR A FORUM ? ???? ;-) …………..
Reads to me that there are more than one “Clancy” with at least one being female
I’m glad that the job of keeping you lot in check doesn’t fall one the shoulders of one person, there would be no spare time for that one
Just as well some of us are angels hey Lance

A place to chat among yourselves about Admin with regard to policy and/or the management of the forum. Feel free to complain, make suggestions or just chat.

Some off-topic posts from other threads may be moved to here.

Cheers

I belong to a caravaning forum where threads often go off topic but get back on line after we’ve had a stir
There is one section of the forum that is serious threads those are discouraged to go off topic one or 2 posts may but very soon come back if not were are reminded
Usually the original poster will say remember this is in serious threads and it stay that way
We don’t have bitching and carry on like other forums I’ve been on
We are all adults and understand a stir we do stay away from controversial subject unless it is in serious threads, they are answered quickly and precisely without every member having to have their say on the subject

It can work with minimal moderation and does IF everyone is an adult about it and doesn’t crack the doodoo when they don’t get their own way

Thanks Clancy(s) for what you do well!

I think it all works very well in general. The last thing I would want to see is Admin jumping in all the time over trivial disagreements.

Sometimes some of us get a bit cranky…no big deal…unless it gets uncivil….or when someone clearly has a set agenda to continuously denigrate someone else.

You still need a large time input to run a forum. You need expertise in sorting out incoming spam and those unscrupulous persons that join up in to different names ask questions and then answer them selves.
I recon some will remember that person.
It is not easy to compare different computer sign ins and to keep your eye on all matters.
Ok I know the member can report some thing and thats good but it all takes a lot of time.
I am on two privately owned forums. Lcool (Land cruisers owners on Line) is on such forum.
I met the owner and it is not an easy exercise to get it up and running and sometimes strong terms have to be laid down to trouble makers.

You have to do it for the love of it I can assure you.

I mean just being a moderator is a tough job and you have to really earn the money your not getting. :)
I now have to note that I cannot accept ownership, truth, quality, or veracity, of articles I may quote off the internet.

That all being said…..Clancy has answered the question about the immediate future of this Forum. So I really think that further discussion on this topic is unnecessary. Looks like nothing will change in the foreseeable future.

Actually it is no where near as bad as you are saying. You find that people are falling over themselves to be mods. If you have the right tools it is pretty easy

It’s not really a difficult job.
Yep, it can be time consuming………if you let it.

It’s very rewarding in fact, or at least I found it so.
You don’t need to be an Rsole to be effective ;-)
