I was banned from the caravanner’s forum for using my first name (I hate pseudonyms and the mod would not even allow Coll.)

There’s a weird Mod there! Serious abuse however seems fine!

As one needs to be a member to discuss this one cannot even do that.

I seriously doubt that Collyn.
They’re a weird mob everywhere, depending on who you listen to.
Serious abuse is, and always has been addressed by Admin over there, some seem to read that differently.
You probably have the Admin email address over there so send them a question if you’re concerned.

That said, this is not the place to discuss or bitch about another forum, so let’s leave it there shall we. ;-)

What are your thoughts on the future of CandM.

To be honest I hope it stays as it is
I’m on Facebook but don’t want to go there with this forum
This forum has always been friendlier than some others I’ve been on
The moderators are not heard from unless they are needed (although it would be nice to chat with them on caravanning matters) *maybe we do without knowing :o *
If it closed a lot of info would be lost
If it closes I fear that we would lose more members unless we could move over to a new format eg proboards etc, but that info would still be lost
Hopefully IF the company does bring it to a close, they will sell it to someone who will keep it going as it is
I say someone but mean a company who will keep it going as it is, as “someone” leaves it open to members being hushed up and posts disappearing and members kicked off, if they don’t agree with the person(s) running it, as we know happens on other forums

That’s my views, just to get back on track
:D

I agree with Frank, leave it as it is.

I dropped out of the forum for a short spell, mainly due to other interests and during that time I tried the Facebook thing that didn’t really appeal to me. The connection between users was not the same as what is shared on a forum, whether it be here on C&M or on a couple of others that I am involved with – fishing & prospecting.

It was good to come back on here and see that the forum hadn’t changed much – the same old stalwarts with the same old friendly banter and a lot of the same old topics still being discussed along with new members with new questions and new ideas. I don’t know when the forum originally commenced, but I do know that in my own time on here, I have come to value the wisdom & knowledge of quite a few members who have always offered good, sound advice based on experience and that wealth of information is something that should not be lost.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to take over this forum?

It surely cannot be much as it is thankfully advt free – but could have a paid ‘for sale’ section to assist costs?

If not huge I’m sure a few people would kick in. I’d be prepared to.

Collyn.

Yeah, I reckon that once you hit 6000 posts, the cost doubles :D

Oops, I’ll shut up now!
