Gday...

Yeah, I understand JR ... but I think (never a good thing to do :neutral:) the author is sort of saying that if you are buying a vehicle that is going to predominantly do short city trips, with limited 'highway' use etc then buy a petrol engined vehicle. That could be for towing as well obviously.

I think that to "whinge" about the 'shortcomings' or 'frustrations' of a DPF, is not really valid as the usage of the vehicle chosen does allow the DPF to be 're-generated' etc.

Having said that ... I think the author is also highlighting in a vague way, that sales people, who also do not understand DPF etc, fail to solicit information from prospective buyers on how they are going to use the vehicle ...and then tend not to advise customers of 'alternate' vehicles which may better meet their needs.

Unfortunately, we all live in a world where such things are never likely to happen. :cry:
