Goondiwindi to Rockhampton

Post by Bobster » Wed Jul 01, 2015 12:53 pm

I'll be travelling from Goondiwindi to Rockhampton via the Leichardt Hwy at the end of July
and I'm enquiring about information on the current road conditions if anyone has travelled this route recently.

I'm travelling via Goondiwindi, Moonie, Miles, Taroom, Banana, Rockhampton.

Any information would be helpful at this time and as I get closer to our departure date I'll check with Qld roads.

We travelled Goondiwindi to Blackwater during June & travelled some of your intended route without any issues. Some stretches are lumpy & required slower speeds. Road kill was very much in evidence especially around Miles so I wouldn't be travelling after dark.
Have a safe trip.

If your towing, I suggest not going via Mt Morgan, but instead via Westwood. It avoids the descent down the range.

Thanks for your replies much appreciated.

I will be towing and I'll take your advise and go via Westwood after looking at the Mt Morgan road
via Google maps the decent is very steep to say the least.
