Post What to take
I will be doing a long trip through central NSW and Emerald and surrounds in Queensland. My tow vehicle is a BA Falcon pulling a dual axle Jayco. As this is my first extended trip, what should I be taking in the way of tools and repair equipment and what should precautions should I take.

hi wally
basically common sense stuff mate ,we hit the road 4 mths ago we opted to take spare set of filters ,belts set , and a spare set of wheel bearings and a set for the van
there was a basic bit on oneof the latest dvd,s by fred i think re a total amount of what he would take stacked on the table , a good one he had was a roll of tie wire , and dont forget the good old duct tape ,grey tape of gaffa tape ,saw a good one on myth busters what they could do with gaffa tape, and of course water and spare fuel if your remote , have a good trip

Wallybrit, when you get up into CQ, just take it easy, still plenty of roadworks about (and doodoo roads), and as you are getting into a heavy coal mining area, wide loads abound on the highways.

A tip, if you have UHF, keep it on. If you meet wide load escort vehicles coming towards you, take note of what they are. If its just a civilian escort vehicle, the following load will be either long, or up to around 4.5 metres wide, basically one lane width. You just need to pull to the left for these but not necessarily stop. If its a civilian escort vehicle, backed up by one or more police escort vehicle/s, then you need to find somewhere to pull off the road, which can be difficult in places, as this load will be approaching the width of the entire road.

Of course, if your not sure, better to pull off the road completely.
