Farewell EMG

Post by TramcarTrev » Tue Nov 22, 2016 9:05 am

I’m finished with EMG.

The 2 magazine covers pictured show entirely different “headlines” yet when you open each Mag there are pages and pages of identical information, so many in fact that I really do not have the time to scan them all in. I have scanned in but 1 identical page/article from each mag. The only visible difference is the page numbers 55 and 57.

The magazines are wrapped in clear plastic thus preventing you from browsing to prevent the purchaser discovering this deception before purchase.

There are no dates of publication either the only identity is bottom left where on one its states “Free camp your way around Australia” the other states “Best free campsites 4”

Not all of the content is identical however both carry heavy quantities of ” paid pseudo advice from experts”.

Seriously a whole raft of readers must be feeling scammed by this. I for one have decided not to support any EMG sponsored stuff ever again, in fact I will actively discourage anyone else buying this rubbish.

I will also investigate making an official complaint to Fair Trading Australia at least to get the plastic wrap removed so you can see what you are paying good money for.

If it would do any good I’d leave the forum too but no one would give a toss because this kind of tactic to sell magazines demonstrates a very clear disregard for other than financial reward.

Thank you lines men, thank you ball boys….

I agree with your sentiments TT. I haven’t bought any of their mags for a while now. Too many paid adverts disgiused as articles and too many so-called “experts” who appear to be nothing more than journalists being told what to write.

Frankly I’ve had it with the lot. The covers of the mags are pictured in my first post…
As for the DVD, I have the repeats of the repeats in the DVD drawer…

Agree…one of my pet hates is buying a mag and then seeing stuff repeated time after time.
If you can’t put out a mag with new stuff then don’t do it

One of my pet hates is that this along with a lot of other mags don’t get proof read. :-x

Some photos have captions and some don’t; why, I asked-too hard they answered.
Some captions don’t match the photos; again no proof reading.
The job of the editor used to be to edit, that is read and correct, what a reporter has written.

Fred, The Man Under The Hat, was The Editor At Large, but not sure as i can’t find who the editor is.

I know that he has his loyal admirers, but why does the big bloke with the Snowy River Akubra need to be front and centre of everg othef photo.

You don’t need to play Spot Fred. You can’t miss him.

C’mon TT the cover at least has the bloke in different shirt colours….

I know what you mean, I reckon they are trying to get two issues from the same picture take.
It’s not easy editing and some times repetition is a hazard. I have spoken with a few blokes in the trade and some time it can be a tough job…. :)
I now have to note that I cannot accept ownership, truth, quality, or veracity, of articles I may quote off the internet.
