C&M on Tour Magazine

Post by Jay&dee » Fri Dec 18, 2015 5:48 am

Just my view:-

It appears to me, that the issues over the last 12 months or more have placed a lot more emphasis on Free / freedom / Bush Camping. I am noticing that more and more articles on camping are given a lot more exposure.
Great hints and tips as well as places that are Grey Nomad friendly.
It is good to see that the C&M people realise that there is a huge percentage of us who like to have the choice of freedom camping. Caravan Parks articles appear to have taken a back seat, and that is good.

A huge majority of the articles are targeted to both styles of travelling.
My view is that our old mate FRED, is a priceless rough diamond.
Keep up the excellent information for us Grey Nomads and other mobile home travellers.

G'day Johnno,

Fred is a bit forceful with his cash for comment.

It would be wonderfull if all the info was correct. Fred can't tell the difference between free, cheap or expensive. I the last issue Theresa CReek Dam has moved 300k to Mackay and is NOT free.
It seems to me that advertising in one form or another has taken over.
Plus I am sick of the phone calls trying to sell me something or extend my subscription.

Spot on phum. Until recently their web page was showing Narooma (near Bermagui NSW) as being in Qld.

I too am fed up with phone calls asking me to resubscribe. I don't trust the van reviews as the reports never find any fault with any of the vans - probably don't want to upset the advertisers.

Any way I am not renewing my subscription, if I see a topic that interests me I can always buy the mag at a newsagent or visit the local library

Hey guys, I think a little bit unfair there. I thought I read some where in one of the Mags. that Free camp or freedom camping referred to very low cost or freebie.
And remember they say the only person that was suppose to never make a mistake was you know who. And guess what he ended up having a cross to bear not to mention the hammer and nails.

But I guess that everyone is entitled to their own view, just like me.

As a relative newbie....I love the mag and the DVD's.

I also realise that it is a fact of life that sponsors pay the bills and that they in return expect a return in the form of advertising etc....but I've gotten so tired of hearing about and seeing that Isuzu that it is turning me off the brand. Everyone can see what it is without it being flashed up close up and in your face.
Just my opinion.

Cheers

Jay & dee,
A mistake here and there is forgiveable misinformation is not.
Go to Woolworths and try to tell them low cost is free, travel to a destination mentioned in the mag to find its 4 hours drive away or even in another state.

I shouldn't have started this, I have had more phonecalls than normal, even 2 in one day. Are they trying to get square.

It seems to me that they are trying to make out that the majority of travelers free camp. It would be a very small percentage that do and thanks for that as the roadsides and bush would be overflowing with vans/motorhomes. The vast majority still use caravan parks, which are also overflowing at times. As for the DVD's, most are hanging in the garden.
