Great pics dieseltojo. Thanks for all the effort. I live on the other side hills. I know how cold it gets there.

I am going to revisit "Italian Flat" soon. Looks like no fires at the moment. Still it will be warmer than when e went in June the last time.

I started reading the thread and thought, jeez must be the only cold place in Australia, I wonder what it's like in winter!
Then I saw the date of the OP
It'll be interesting to see the difference in the pictures

Great info and pics Paul.
Are there any facilities at these campgrounds? eg. toilets, water. .... do they have the same firewood gathering restrictions as national Parks?

So its cold there in winter???? Does it Snow? Is the road passable by a 4x4 and 20' van...
Sounds a bit like "Woods Reserve" in the ACT scenery and climate wise....

The time of the original post was June, I think, and it was good weather. No problems for a van most time I would say. But you have to keep an eye on the weather in the high country any way. With a forby no probs.

Facilities are great... a drop toilet and that's it... No need to dig a hole...heaven to us that like to free camp.
Water laid on in the river, power laid on in the panels. :)
No fires i would say at this time of year as it is too early so bring the Weber for under the annex.

Dargo in Victoria. Easter break……12th to 18th April 20016
This is a pic of my grandson and friends in the Dargo River. Ambient Temp around 15 Celsius. That river is cool believe me.
But that’s not why I posted the pic.

The next day or so that pristine water became cloudy as if someone had tipped in a ton of lime.
I suspect someone on holidays was mining the river with vac equipment somewhere upstream, and didn’t give a bugger what happened to the stream. This river was mined 100 years ago and plenty of gold came out of it.
It took the whole day to clear itself. The township pumps its water from this river.

We parked in the same spot as 5 years ago. Camp fire places are supplied so we gathered some wood. My bolt on frame comes in handy.
