TV remote "V" air conditioner?

Post by 1952 » Wed Dec 05, 2012 10:11 pm

I have a GVA 21" tv in my van and also a factory fitted Ibis roof aircon.

The air con comes on at times when we use the T V remote?

Pain in the butt!

Ant ideas?

Hi 1952;
Tuff luck with the remote control for your tv. Remote controles work on light in the IR spectrum, and all remote cotrols are preprogramed with there codes, so as they will only work with there respective sets. Eg, the remote control for the tv will only work for the tv and the remote control for you stereo will only work with the stereo.

Now the problem is there are only so mainy sets of codes that remote controls have to pick from by the manufacture . Unfortunatly you remote for the tv and also the remote controle for your air conditioner 'share some of the same code'.

Not a lot you can do, and the only thing that you may try is try another make of tv. A bit of a over kill , but if buying a nother tv of a differant make works, then you have found the answer.

I bought a new small screen lcd TV some time ago and it did the same with the DVD player, I took it back and bought a different brand TV, no more problems.

The easiest "fix" would be to put a small piece of insulation tape over the IR receiver on the aircon. This should stop any signals. If you want to use the aircon you can either do it manually or you'll have to remove the tape if you want to use the remote.

We don't seem to use the aircon remote at all - easier to just reach up and push the button on the unit.
