Jayco Sterling side panel

Post by lanceonley » Mon Oct 10, 2011 1:26 pm

Hi,
I have had a small dent in the side of our Sterling van and the Jayco agents want to replace the whole side of the van and say that the sides are not fibreglass as Jayco states in their brochure ,so they cannot be succesfully fibreglassed. Any one tell me if this is true and if there is some other way of repairing besides ripping whole side of the van.If I have to have the whole side replaced I am looking at a wait of several months before part is available. I have sought other options like replacing the damaged part with a window, but this still means I will have a small section of the side filled in .Good to hear your opinions.

Thanks Lance

I have heard of people fitting those White Louvered Vents over small dents.
It depends on how big the dent is.

Suggest also check with Jayco direct as some dealers will spin a yarn to get some extra work, if Jayco say its made of fibreglass and the dealer says its not I would certainly ring customer service at jayco to clarify and let them know one of their dealers is giving advice different to their marketing material

Hi all,
Thought I should update you on the repairs. Instead of the original $7333.00 for the repairs I had a window put in and had van back on the road within the week at $2500.00 and we are very pleased with the job and extra light in the kitchen area.

Cheers lance
