Hank you were lucky having helpers.... I struggled on my own.
On January 5th I reported the bull-bar recall here... viewtopic.php?p=89792#p89792
Almost everyone should eventually receive a letter from Toyota. The recall goes back to 2003. On Hank's point about self-fitted bars I don't think there is any concern. The fault is with the genuine Toyota Sovereign bar kit, not the Prado. The brackets supplied in the kit are now deemed not good enough and being replaced, therefore it should not matter who installed the bar. The issue is the part, not the quality of the installation.

You must have plenty of patience to have fitted it yourself, it took us the best part of 3 hours and did not have a beer either.
