Silastic Your Fridge Pipes

Post by tar trekka » Thu Apr 10, 2014 7:51 pm

Hi there,

I was recently advised by a caravan repairer to Silastic the small pipes (not the big ones which get hot) to the back of the fridge to reduce vibration on bad roads.

He said he has repaired or replaced several fridges where the pipes had vibrated & "Work Hardened" & snapped.

Tar Trekka.

Hi Tar Trekka,
Good advice. This was the cause of a small fire I had in my caravan a few years back. The gas pipe to the pilot light had snapped off near the igniter. Having an auto ingnition fridge the igniter lit the leaking gas.

Hi Tar Trekka,
I have also seen the small chimney pipe fall out and the person had to replace the melted grill. Fortunately in that case it was done on warranty.
I now have to note that I cannot accept owners ship, truth, quality, or veracity, of articles I may quote off the internet.
