Hi, I have a 2005 Pajero 3.2 Turbo diesel with auto trans and tow a 17.6 Jayco poptop. Usually travel at 95kl in drive when on open road and use the tiptronic (manual change) when in hilly areas and average 14lt per 100k. Worst was when i was pushing a head wind and droped speed down to 85k and returned 19lt per 100k Heading to the territory in 5 days for another 3 week adventure, can't what to get away from this cold weather.

Terracan
We have a diesel Terracan. Auto.
Went round Oz last year and averaged 13lt. per 100..sitting on 90kph.
Had a major fuel pump problem early this year and was fixed, at great expense, under warranty.....Have just completed another 8,000 km. trip to the West of the Eyre peninsula and averaged 13.5 litres per 100.
The courier-Mail published the results of their test on a currnt model, automatic, diesel Hyundai Santa Fe towing a mid-sized Jayco pop top between Melb. and Sydney.
They were achieving a remarkable 9.4 lt. per100 before being hit by Gale force headwinds and hills..the end result was an average for the whole trip of 10.36 litres per 100.
I reckon that these figures are amazing.

A copy from my entry in the Lcool forum Our LC HJZ 100 series, 4.2 Diesel with turbo and water cooled intercooler, with LPG ECO gas injection system. Its been almost six months since my system was fitted and it still makes me smile The motor is just so sweet and so much more driveable. A few months ago we drove from Batemans Bay up the coast road, towing a 17ft caravan. We went up via the Illawarra highway, up over Macquarie Pass and onto Lane Cove in Sydney. The LC returned 15.5/100 for the whole trip, with average speed around 90klm per hr. Macquarie Pass is a pretty steep windy road and the LC just purred up there. Exhaust temp rarely gets up near 500C regardless. http://www.lcool.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11439

We have a 2004 Nissan GU Patrol 3.0L TD and our fuel consumption is around 20L/100km. On our next big trip I will log the amount of diesel, the cost of each fill up and the kilometer readings in between for a more accurate figure.
