We have also been keeping a daily record of expenditure and kilometres travelled. As previously mentioned, when we are arriving in larger towns we fall into the usual shopping / holidaying mentality, and tend to spend more. With the kids we like to take them places and on tours which can be expensive, however this is all part of the adventure, but we do make use of free camping alot.

Lazing on the beach or in one of the waterfalls is a great way maintain the budget and keep the kids happy. Its just a shame that Julie and I have very short attention spans and tend to move on quite quickly, which pushes up the diesel costs... :D

Well we have benn on the road for 7 months, done 27,000k and would have spent over $1 a k no trouble.

We eat good and have done some expensive trips like Horizontal Falls $1550, Bungles the same, Kakadu $700 flight.

We figure at our age we will only do it once so we intend do do it all regardless.

Has been a bit expensive as we bought a new van halfway round so that dented whatever budget we may have had.

Reckon we should spend it not the kids.

Incidentally the difference between clockwise and anticlockwise is minimal as I believe the distance is taken on the white line in the middle of the road.

We have done a figure 8 so stuffed that theory

Just go and do it worry later.

Cheers
