Post by budget » Thu Jan 07, 2016 7:20 pm

hi guys,
just got to thinking today after getting my insurance for the fan,we pay 51$ per month and was wondering if that seems ok?
is it possible to get seasonal,i generally don't use it in the summer months.i am 59 years old if that helps answering my question.
regards paul

NRMA does have a seasonal type option. My brother in law has a policy to that effect.

Try and go too the different insurance companies on the net and get an online quote. Just type in caravan insurance.
Make sure you give them all the same details, then see whats the best offer.
That's how i got mine.
I do the same with the house and car insurances.

Hank
the NRMA part time useage fee was reasonable

except you needed to store your van under solid cover etc

most of us who go nomading would find this usefull , but not all us can store under cover

Depending on your level of cover that seems quite reasonable.

Reviewing mine as it is around $860.00 for 52k cover.

We are with APIA for the van. Over the years we have had a few claims, sideswiped by a truck, hail damage, stone damage; all sorted with no more than phone calls... Very pleased with them. Remember with insurance though its an essential evil that no one wants to pay for what you want ( rather than the cheapest) is to get ANY CLAIMS RESOLVED WITHOUT HAVING TO RESORT TO THREATENING CORRESPONDENCE.... Internet rsearch is a good move....

One to stay well clear of is Coles, they have an abysmal reputation....

NRMA took 4 months to decide on a claim for my Sister in Law, then decided to repair and that took another 2 months....

Youi are cheap but sluggish when it comes time to claim.

Another little item that is slowly appearing for Car Comprehensive insurance is the "Dongle" that plugs into the OBD port on your car. QBE offer sizeable discounts if you fit one but of course the "dongle" gives them evidence becuase it records your driving habits and if you are an habitually bad driver they may claim based on the dongle evidence to deny your claim. These are all the rage in the US and there are sites to show you how to defeat the dongles as well as numerous lawfirms who specialise in "Donglease litigation"....

Just about to take out insurance on my van and have got a few quotes.
My business insurance broker has quoted and its from a company called Resilium which is part of the Suncorp group.

Has anyone used or had experience with caravan insurance through Resilium?
