Post Emptying into an Envirocycle
Does anyone know if it is ok to empty a toilet tank into an Envirocycle septic tank. We will be travelling to Qld later this year and I know that we could encounter some of these up there and would hate to get into strife by doing the wrong thing. We have used BioMagic but have recently converted to using napisan (with great success and would prefer to use this in the future). Why are all my questions relating to loos???

If you use the generic nappy soakers (Wollies or Coles) it should say on the label "septic tank safe" the way they work is by oxigenising the contents, It is safe to use in septis, envirocycles, longdrops and composting toilets.

Our "loo" is 5 years old and before we store it, I rub a little vegtable oil on the rubber seals, haven't had a problem yet.

We now have some extra things in the thread.

The Envirocycle style septic tanks are not the same as long drops and composting dunnies. The thing with long drops and composters is you have to keep them relatively dry for them to work properly. Up in the cold country (snow fields) I have seen them where they have special bowls that have drains to collect the urine from the seated ones so it does not go down onto the compost. There are also instructions directing the standing ones to use the urinal. The rational is to stop the compost (which only works slowly up in the cold country) from becoming too wet. The damage that the unscrupulous do when emptying their cassettes into long drops does not come from the chemical in the contents but the water. The water drowns the composting action.
