Yep, I never like the words “stove on for heating” and “I will have a nap”.

Not that there is any thing wrong with a bit of heat in the morning to take the chill of the air. After all we do use the stove for quite a while when cooking with no problems.
The thing is with the authorities, that they realise cooking is ok as we watch the stove when cooking and control the thing.
This is not the same as putting a stove on and then hopping back to bed for a “few minutes” and then drifting off to sleep again. And even that is not so bad….. Its when those few minutes turn to hours that we get into problems.
As peter Said the incomplete combustion of gas under a terracotta pot would be the thing to watch, even though that has to be proven to what extent complete (in combustion) occurs. :)

I have to say that if you are carting along the kids or grand kids , they are almost twice as suseptable to getting gassed as an adult.

It sure depends on how much cold weather camping you do but a good friend and I went for around 7 weeks to Tassie, his was an oil heater and mine runs on gas. Both worked as well as each other and if gas is a problem to purchase so is diesel and we both had no problems.
I now have to note that I cannot accept owners ship, truth, quality, or veracity, of articles I may quote off the internet.

I did not notice any reply to the Q.
If I might ask? Where’s best place to buy these?

We could be very interested in buy and fitting a deisel heater.
So I am letting my fingers do the walking here by seeking help with the place to buy and price etc etc.
Thanks

Chonga has fitted a Snugger (one of the cheapest brands) and has a thread on his installation. He posted early in this thread.

Purchase a box of pocket-sized chemical heating pads.
Activate one and slip under coat for field outings for warm slumber or use a
camp fire to heat brick-size igneous stones. Wrap a hot
one carefully within a thick bath towel to stuff within coat.

we have a whistling kettle and 2 hot water bottles.. at night we boil the kettle and the heat given out in doing so warms the van then we use the water bottles to warm bed or put in a towel and stick on ya lap for warmth while reading. In the morning we recycle water back into whistling kettle and refill water bottles..van warms up again. Separate kettle for normal boils:) reason we use a whistler is there is no way you can fall asleep:) we have a gas heater in van but have never bothered using it:)

Well folks,
With winter virtually now behind us, I am going to put the heater project on the back burner until early next year.
Then of course depends on where we travel in 2015.
Did I type 2015. Boy here we are heading towards 20% of the century.
Live life to the fullest.

If its possible, you could park the van on family or friends front lawn or footpath, run a led to the house and use a small electric heater. I have done that with my son and daughter.
That’s free camping, easy and cheap heating. :D
