Hi All
BrianH joining the forum. Started with camping more than half a decade back, rough bush camping under the stars.
Graduated to tents in the Defense Force and then after with family in civilized tents. As age caught up a camper trailer became the way to go, followed by a vintage 15'6" Viscount then up to the current 17'9" Roadstar Pop-top.
As retirement age has come and gone and am involved only on a part-time basis so the need for more comfort reared its head. Consequently a new Opal Tourer 196 is due in the next two weeks. We reckon on 12 months of short trips and some customizing of the van before a longer trip to areas north of Cairns, hopefully followed soon after across to the West.
Then we will see which way the wind blows us.
Looking forward to picking lots of good info on the forum
Best Regards to ALL

Welcome
Sounds a familiar story, camping under the hootchies on cold wet nights on rookies was fun and cemented the need for more creature comforts

Hi glanyard
Obviously the best, RAEME as a graduate of OTU Scheyville in 1970. (those were the days when soldiers were real soldiers)

RAEME were the best in the "fixing world", but Infantry was best at killing and Intelligence best at telling the Infantry where to find their targets.BrianH wrote:Hi glanyard

Welcome Brian, You didn't acknowledge the cream of the crop unit - the AACC. Armed with our spatulas we marched forward. At least we did not suffer any injuries from enemy troops - the real enemy came from our own troops.
