Tip for anyone with a pension card

Post by Frank & Brenda » Fri Mar 22, 2019 4:39 pm

DON'T take your old fridge to the recycling place (I nearly did today)
Found out about this by accident on Facebook

http://yess.net.au/fridges/

This mob will give you $150 in vouchers (which can be spent on food at a number of supermarkets or lots of other places) for your old fridge (2 door) as long as it draws power
Mine is dead but the light comes on so that qualifies
images-1.jpg
They will also give me $150 for the old clunker (NO not Brenda) the fridge that came out of the kitchen
They are picking them up on Tuesday

Fridges under 1150mm high = $50
Drivers over 1150mm high one door = $100
Large 2 door fridges = $ 150

All you need to qualify is a pensioner card of some sort

Good tip Frank. :)
I now have to note that I cannot accept ownership, truth, quality, or veracity, of articles I may quote off the internet.

There is also this

https://appliance.environment.nsw.gov.au/Suitability

https://appliance.environment.nsw.gov.au/Products

You get almost 50% off and they install the new one and take the old one away. If you know someone who has an old fridge they want to get rid of let them have that one.

This one mentioned by Hans is federal govt, and should be available Aust wide.

Another good tip, If you have to travel more than 100kms one way or 500kms a week to see a specialist for treatment in Victoria.
You can claim a travel and accommodation allowance
We claimed for 3 trips from Bairnsdale to Melbourne,we didn't need accommodation,as we stayed with family. We were reimbursed $300 . I don't know why some pensioners whinge,we were very grateful.

We get a similar deal up here in the centre of the universe - aka Qld.

To see just about any specialist, we have to do a 700 km round trip to Rockhampton, fuel cost is about $120 and we get a $340 reimbursement plus accommodation if we need to stay overnight.
