Recently had one of the free prostate MRI's. I have had two before as well as 4 biopsies to try to find the reason for my steadily increasing PSA now 11 but it took 15 yrs to go from 3 to 11.

I went to a different place to have the MRI as they were closer to me and I had a choice of 2.

MRI No1 said I had to have a low fibre diet for 24 hrs before and an enema and I could not drive after. They sent me the information and the time they gave me was unsatisfactory so I cancelled it.

MRI No2 all they said was a enema was needed after I had my breakfast, no low fibre diet and no driving restriction. I ended up going to MRI No2 as the time was more suitable but I did the low fibre diet.

The medication they give intravenously is Buscopan and Gadolinium.

Goes to show how different places do things differently for the same procedure.

Thankfully the results again came back negative.

My last PSA in Oct last year was just on 10, it has moved very little in the last 4-5yrs and my specialist bloke isn't too concerned.
He's putting it down to an enlarged Prostate with no signs of anything else at this stage.
Had all the checks and biopsies and nothing too sinister has shown up so at this stage just on a 'wait, watch and whistle'.

I'm OK with that. 8-)

It’s now Active Surveylance not the old watch and wait.

Keep it up.
