Motherhen wrote: Hi Keith and Maggie Four months - what a good time frame . Don't forget you can log into the Camps Australia Wide website for updates as you travel. Others you meet in free and low cost camps will share the good places they have been. Despite all the publicity, Tasmania still has so many wonderful camping opportunities. Expect the coastal campgrounds to be busy during their summer school holidays. Get your All Parks National Parks Pass while on the Spirit of Tasmania. Motherhen, Are you advising to obtain your parks pass on board for convenience or cost ? thanks jill

Convenience of being ready to tour Jill. The cost was the same, but getting the parks pass compared to paying each time can be a big saving if you visit a number of parks. You can get annual, two year, or an eight week holiday pass which we chose, now $60. Only this holiday pass can now be obtained on line but you have to exchange the email confirmation for the physical pass at a National Parks Visitor Centre, where you can purchase all park passes anyhow.

Hi Grae and Deb, Thank you. We can only allow 6 weeks in Tasmania. The problem is members keep writing about amazing free camping spots and thing to see do, at the rate of this we will need 6 months.

Yeah I know what you mean , its good what ever time your here, you,ll be suprised what you,ll see in the time you have , we have looked for the not so touristy spots and been suprised what we have seen , a lot from listening to locals or other travellers let me know your plans we can give you some tips in those areas ,for instance the bay of fires there are several good. Free camp sites near there we found , or dunnaley near port arthur there's a great camp spot there too at the pub, big grass paddock beside the pub ,keep I touch
