USA - AGM Batteries going chinese!
Having trouble finding a relyable AGM battery.
HISTORY - Little use "Marine" 100ah charged 1 monthly lasted 8 years.
2012 - Charged with projector 7 stage inteligent 10Ah charger.
AGM - 100ah CENTURY - little use died before warrenty.
2014
Replacment Century - 105 ah also added - one extra century 100ah
plus 2 solar panels 2 x 200watt with Dingo 40/40 regulator.
To run a 12V 7amp fridge. - general use 16amp per night.
Both dead after 6 months!
PLEASE NOTE CENTURY NOW ARE MADE IN "CHINA"
Also note that draw was checked - no shorts or leaks detected.
Century voltage read very good, a quick load test also! But a overnight discharge prooves DEAD after 25amps!
So what is better!
Bought at Battery world
They are willing to exchange under warrenty and change for another brand.
Full river (Now Chinese not made in USA) Ritar (Korean) Both 1 year warrenty.

If you can afford them, look at Optima spiral cell batteries.

Hi Cu2,
I have a seven year old Fullriver AGM, made in China and it is still OK but was under the impression that Fullriver has been made in China for quite some time.

I had 2 of these in our old van for 6 years and they were still goig strong when we sold it
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PDC121000-10 ... TQ:AU:1123
I have the same (2) in our new(er) van and love their performance (note, they are also made in china)
the dealer in the above add was great and (he is based in Adelaide) the batteries were delivered the next day

I have to say it , I blame that projector charger. A mate had a similar problem and went a better unit. Only a test would prove it though. I just cant think of what mine is but pretty dear.Cu2 wrote:Having trouble finding a relyable AGM battery.

That wouldn't supprise me. It is often on the charger. When I do decide to go traveling is when I find out the batts are kaput. I used a cheep $40 charger on that Marine battery I had. It would just trickle charge it and once full stop charging "simples"dieseltojo wrote:

I though projecta were one of the better brands! Far out - Who can test them?
Optima yellow with out question yes, but they only go to 75Ah. with a high price tag. So "fullriver" bats are looking good.
I was also thinking to have a switch - bat1, bat2, off and both. With a shunt linked to solar regulator once one bat is 50% I would then only use the second battery. That way I would not have to change both batteries if one dies. Should change that charger beforehand.

Re: USA - AGM Batteries going chinese!
Looks like century will only replace 1 battery under warrenty. They say I must go bigger! I say not nessacary. I am monitoring usage, I used max 75amp in one 24hr period of which 49amp was replaced by Solar. So from fully charged I used 25amps the solar reg cut off at 11.4 Amp. The battery went down over night 8.8Amp without any load.
Fully charged now 13.7 from solar now on float - No load - the next morning 12.6 minimum voltage before solar kicks in.
I have ordered FULLRIVER batteries one bat only under warrenty, one I pay because it was already changed under warrenty 5 months ago. Didnt have too much choice but have heard more than one say Full River are good, so crossing fingers.
As to the projeca charger - Was talking to projecta who say I should buy IC2500. Also they say dont use battery if on "power supply" it is not recommended. (Sometimes I forget to change over to mains with battery or week TV signal on 240V dies) I have my suspisions having charger on AGM whilst on mains and fridge on 12V that's too easily forgotten, what can you do about that?

Re: USA - AGM Batteries going chinese!
Thoughts - NAVARA relay?
Navara is connected between Starter bat and the 2 aux AGM's.
NEVARA charges to 16V wouldn't that cook an AGM battery?
I sometimes see the voltage go to 15V whilst driving.
AGM's have a max of round 14.6 to 14.8V could that also be a reason the battery dies?
In the meanwhile I have added a shunt to regulate what every item uses. Here are some readings.
12V TV & Antenna - 0.7 Amp
Invertor with small fan - 2.2 Amps
Water pump - 5 to 9 Amps
With nothing running - 0.1 Amp.

Hi,
Just replaced my Gel-Tech AGM after 9 years use. Replaced them with Gel-Tech again as I understand they are still made in USA. Hope to get another 9 years use.
