Some may have forgotten this Jock, but let’s try again before Admin step in………

Re: AN ALTERNATIVE OPTION FOR A FORUM ?

Any other thoughts on this topic ?
And that is why this type of forum will not work, admin do not step in till its too late or the damage has been done. So easy to raise another topic on this forum rather than highjack someone else’s. But admin are also unpaid so why would they want to put themselves in the firing line. We should all try to exercise some restraint before going off topic.

Someone has already said it but just about every topic has been done to death here. And doing repairs, upgrade advice via remoteness just doesn’t lend itself to user friendliness.

Good Luck finding a new good forum platform, maybe a good idea to start again with a fresh outlook.

This forum has been working just fine for the 10 years you and I have been members here.

Providing EMG continue their support I see no reason for much change.

Yep, there are hiccups.
Is there another style of forum where there are no hiccups ?

Lance, Thankyou for quoting me but I read the edited quote that you think that I think admin has been doing a bad job. This is not true and I copy the original post so that anyone would think that. If this is not the case, then accept my apology.

I see the admin avatar is a policeman, what a shame.

This maybe the chance to clean up the forum of the off topic excursions, maybe even putting an overseeing group into place to ensure quality of posts and relevence. Off topic discussions become on topic under a new post title and banter about trips etc are put into the forum, take the example of where are you now…

Get the industry interested again, but how? if no ongoing recognition of their assistance is available from not having the ability to do so via a publication.
An alternative option for a forum could also be an opportunity for a lot more people to become active again on the forum.

The definition of a Forum is a disscussion group, and the current forum mostly meets that requirement.

My 14 volume Oxford English Dictionary states that Clancy is a Gaelic (male name) and translates as ‘Red Warrior’.

No mention of it as female.

As a possible matter of interest my first name is not a variant spelling of Colin – its the Gaelic masculine of Colleen’. No idea why I have it as my background is French-speaking Belgian!

The problem is not what people do not know, it is what they think they know that simply isn’t true.

What does it matter Peter……..if Clancy is a girl, and Clancys name is Clancy, I reckon that makes Clancy a girls name.

And Clancy says so….”Clancy is also a girl’s name so that dual use is rather convenient for the users of this account”

So no-one else has ever heard of:

Clancy of the Over Flow

I had written him a letter which I had, for want of better
Knowledge, sent to where I met him down the Lachlan, years ago,
He was shearing when I knew him, so I sent the letter to him,
Just ‘on spec’, addressed as follows, ‘Clancy, of The Overflow’.

…..

originally written by Banjo & since, sung by Slim Dusty amongst others….

I don’t think anyone has said it is solely a blokes name

And the past 6 or so posts should be judged as to there relevency to the post and be binned if inappropriate by admin.

Where are you Jock on this one or have you given up too.

IF the EMG group closes this forum tomorrow, many would be thinking that the way forward should have been discussed, even if nothing is changed…
