Yasi IS coming guys and gals...
OK guys and gals...if you are in a van and in the threat area I recommend you leave right NOW.
Pick a direction, me it would be West & North as the land brings a cyclone under control and the tropical low dumps to the south of the cyclone.
Good luck to us all.

Re: Yasi IS coming guys and gals...
Yes! I just got off the phone from my son who lives in Gordonvale and he is very worried. Last time when Larry went through Innisfail, someone’s garden shed flew from god knows where and landed on his roof and went right through. It almost ended up in his family room. Some of his neighbours have high tailed it towards Townsville.
My thoughts are with all those in FNQ tonight and especially for those facing Yasi’s mighty forces tomorrow. I hope all stay safe and come though this ok.

Good luck to us all. At the moment, it appears that SOUTH EAST is the best option, according to the latest "Model". And the land does NOT always bring a cyclone "under control". Just look at the track Cyclone Tracey took. Went a long way inland, following the most inhabited areas, then did a big loop, and went back out to sea again. And Kathy, from halfway down Cape York, started in the Coral Sea, went overland, then Crossed the bottom corner of the Gulf of Carpentaria, and overland again to hit Borroloola, in the NT. Cyclones are unpredictable. Cheers, xina.

Just had a look at the observations from Willis Island. Less than an hour ago the wind speed was 102/137 kph. http://maps.bonzle.com/c/a?a=p&p=289134 ... tation.htmdiesel

Re: Yasi IS coming guys and gals...
For those of you choosing to remain or if youve got rellies there may God watch over them and keep them safe through these coming hours.
Its our typical cyclone season but right after the floods its a cruel blow to the locals that live there.
My opinion is IF you dont need be there then why are you still there, evacuate.
Cheers Rod

Re: Yasi IS coming guys and gals...
I note that the wind at Willis has dropped from a gust of 185 kph to ZERO in the last 3 readings.... so either the eye is over Willis or the Anemometer broke. I think the Radar broke (or switched off) some time ago as no updates for yonks. The QNH readings are still decreasing... http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ60801 ... 4299.shtml
