Hi Al and Lou,

It was great being able to use a Forum recipe for the cooking segment! The irony is that although the recipe was for a really quick dessert – 5 or 6 minutes, depending on the microwave! – it took around two hours to film. You wouldn’t believe the different angles and processes involved… it’s quite a feat to fit me, a cameraman, a tripod and video camera in the van!

Nice dessert though… and so quick…

Cheers
Marg :-)

First I’d like to say hello to everyone on the site, I’m a new member from the US.

We’ve been full time RVers for 6 years and spend most of our time in the Desert southwest, currently, we are at Slab City 4 miles NE of Niland, CA.

One of my hobbies is cooking using solar ovens, we have two and use one every day. I wonder if solar cooking is popular in Australia/New Zealand?
I have found that anything that can be cooked in a conventional oven can be cooked in a solar oven, I’ll be sharing some favorite recipes in the near future.

Hi Tincup, welcome to our Forum. I for one have not heard of a solar oven. Maybe you can enlighten us with some pictures. It sounds a really good concept. …..Daphne……

Hi Tincup,
A big welcome from us also.
I read in detail about the solar cooking experience a couple of years ago.
I didn’t think it was for me but I admire those who use it successfully as you quite obviously do.
We will stick with the “Turbo Oven” and the thermal cooking method of the “Dreampot”
Interested in recipes though with an American Flavour.

Hi Tincup

Welcome to the forum.
I am very interested in solar cooking concept and the recipes you use. Also of your travels in the US, what rig you have, cost of fuel etc etc. Anything you want to tell. Maybe in a different forum event rather than this cooking and recipe one.
Cheers

Beer Bread.

3 Cups SR Flour. 2 Dessertspoons Sugar. 1 can room temp. Beer.

Mix all ingreds. together in a bowl until you have a reasonably runny Dough. Pour into a greased loaf tin and whack it into the Weber just after you have lifted the Roast.

This was taken from the Heatbeads Recipes site.

Cheers,
xina.
An it harm none, do what you will.

Re: Cooking and Recipes – Wendy’s CREAMY CHICKEN

Post by ashnwendy » Tue Sep 13, 2011 12:19 pm

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to add my Yummy Recipe for you to try in Dream Pot or similar although it can also be made the conventional way too…..
Believe me this is Yummo!!!!! :D

WENDY’S CREAMY CHICKEN
Serves 4+

1 Carrot = sliced
2 Chicken Skinless Breasts = Browned & cut in cubes
2 Onions = Chopped & Sautéed
With
500 gm Bacon = cubed and sautéed
Mushrooms = small can Champignon or fresh
2 Tblsp Worcester Sauce
Hand full of uncooked pasta
400 gm can Cream of Mushroom Soup
Chicken Stock = enough to cover all above
200 ml Sour Cream = Lite is fine = add just before serving

Brown Chicken, bacon and onion in bit of oil
Add carrots, pasta, soup and chicken stock
For Dream Pot
Bring to boil for 10 minutes with lid on to hold heat
Place in DREAM POT and you’re done
Leave for at least 2 hours
Just before you eat add Sour Cream
Or on Conventional stove Simmer for 2 hours
This quantity allows to place smaller saucepan over top with 1 cup of rice and one & 1/2 cups of water bring to boil for 5 minutes and place above the pot
Otherwise double ingredients to use ¾ of pot and freeze extra for future yummy meals.
If it is to be it’s up to me.

That does look like a nice one, Wendy. (Not sure about the cream… even the ‘lite’ version… I’m currently trying to get rid of a few extra kilos!) But you can’t have ‘creamy chicken’ without the cream. :-)

About time we cooked another meal in the Shuttle Chef. Must give this a go.

Cheers
