The antenna is glass mounted on the windscreen.

Thank you Sid – I didn’t know this was type of antenna was available for a UHF and I’ve been in a bit of a quandary as to where to put one – the windscreen mount is ideal for my need.
Any whistling?

That GME UHF stick is the same principle and similar band as the mobile phone through-the-glass antennae that were popular over 20 years ago.

The antenna length will change a little with application.

There are other styles, some stick entirely on the inside of glass… http://www.prestigecom.net.au/uhf-cb-an … s-antennas

These antenna may not have the gain of the more common fully external types but you can’t have everything.

Also with below the roof mounting there will be some signal shadowing.

This weekend was the first opportunity to get away with the caravan and see how the Y62 performed as a tug. So we headed up to a little place called Nobby home of Steel Rudd.
Towing performance was unbelievable. 2.5 ton van climbed up the Toowoomba Range at the speed limit with plenty to spare. On the highway we had the smoothest ride ever. Handled so well you could forget you had the van on the back. Full consumption measured from fill to fill was 20.1 L/100. Very impressive.
