A MASSIVE WIN FOR RVERS

tb

Recently you might have noticed Caravan & Motorhome on Tour’s fury at Parks Victoria for, in our opinion, taking RVers to the cleaners with their outrageous tariffs for basic National Park campsites. We’ve spoken about it in the magazine, the newsletter, our Facebook forum, and we’ve had an unbelievable outpouring of support from passionate campers who have felt the pinch, and are sick and tired of being taken advantage of by pencil-pushing bureaucrats. Some of you even wrote in prepared to take to the streets – that’s just how important this issue is to the travel community.

Well, I’m beaming to bring you the good news. Together, the RV community did it. This week the Victorian state government scrapped the fees imposed by the last mob. What does that mean? That the 500-plus camping sites, 70 campgrounds and 19 National Parks affected by the tariffs have had their fees scrapped! Absolutely free, once again – as they should be. The Minister for Environment, Lisa Neville, said something that resonated with me “you can’t put a price on the beauty of our National Parks,” and I couldn’t agree more.

This is a massive victory for RVers everywhere. It goes to show that when our community speaks loudly enough, our words turn into action and our action gets results. From all your letters, emails, calls and lobbying, we’ve managed to fight back against those trying to lock us out of our National Parks, and we won.

So this year, experience the raw and awe-inspiring National Park camping Victoria has to offer, because as far as I’m concerned, VIC Parks are back open for business and we couldn’t be more excited.

Yours in solidarity,

Fred Wright
