A group of 28 park owners and staff from New Zealand’s Top 10 Holiday Parks have just spent a week in Australia on a study tour of BIG4 Holiday Parks, their Australian affiliate. Visiting a total of 18 parks, the group examined the BIG4 business model of holiday parks on the New South Wales and Queensland coast.

The study tour has been organised every year for the last few years, and Top 10 Holiday Parks’ Managing Director, Kevin Gough, said this year his organisation came away with many new ideas to implement in their own parks in New Zealand.

“What we have definitely noticed on this tour is that BIG4 create a homely and cosy feel throughout their self-contained units, while still giving one the feeling of being in resort-style accommodation. They provide good kids’ programs and activities within the park and excellent security,” he said.

Mr Gough also said Top 10 park owners were very impressed with the building techniques used in Australia, the well-equipped outdoor kitchens, the extensive use of tiling throughout most of the BIG4 units and cabins, and the design and layout of those units.
