Mag size

Post by Old Techo » Thu Sep 14, 2017 10:45 am

I don’t buy the Mag but receive hand-me-downs (or should that be hand-me-ups?) from my son.

I was arranging a stack of old Mags in chronological order when I noticed a big variation in thickness. Closer inspection revealed that edition #208 had 258 pages. A few following editions seemed similar in thickness.

Moving on through to recent editions they were all decidedly thinner. Edition # 251 was only 160 pages. So that is almost 100 less pages

Now if this was a Bunning’s packet of small nails and you once received 258 and now received only 160, but still at the same price, would you be happy?

They say that is due to settlement.

Bundy Rum took the cake.

Put the price up while at the same time reducing the bottle from 750 ml to 700 ml.

Hi OT, that’s a good post. Shows the decline of the written word. I see many learned and honorable politicians lament that the average fool graduating from school today won’t know what a mail box is and will not bother to send in a vote etc. As if….

It reminds me of the readers digest the other day. I got it given to me as well. ( that’s to bait the English students)

What a load of rubbish it is. Ok I don’t get it any more , I had to write in years ago and told them that I was dead to stop getting it. Cheeky blighters didn’t believe me, but stopped the sub…..

Anyway it had a list of Australia’s top 50 companies say and why we trusted them. I thought OOOkayyy. Fair enough. But who made the selection was a bit dubious.

Then I got the picture. The top fifty was followed up by fifty full page ads by every company to show their loyalty to Australia.

No kidding the half of the mag was an advertising champagne. I released it with out fanfare to fly under Trudies chair and it will get short shrift into the wast paper bin…. :)

For the members that think this is nothing to do with caravaning…..Lower your weight. :)
I now have to note that I cannot accept ownership, truth, quality, or veracity, of articles I may quote off the internet.

Today I saw the latest issue # 254 and it was 146 pages.

So from issue #208 @ 258 pages, to issue # 251 @ 160 pages and 3 issues later # 254 @ 146 pages :o

Less people advertising = less pages
I find that there are hardly any stories these days

Certainly wouldn’t pay the cover price for the magazine but at 10 issues for $39 it an acceptable cost for what you get.

It used to be a good read many years ago, sad to hear it go downhill so much. I wouldn’t even pay $39 for 10 magazines now, I seen one at the barbers and it was just full of advertisments. Has anything taken its place as a good read?

Yes noticed the same today when issue 255 arrived in mail.

Coincidentally this was the last issue of my subscription.

I have every issue from 1 to 255 but unless I get an offer I can’t refuse, I won’t be renewing my subscription.
