Recently I spent a day in Leura, in the NSW Blue Mountains with friends. In our travels, we stopped in at the Wayzgoose Café (twice actually – once for lunch and then later for afternoon tea!). The café is known for its ‘flower pot scones’. This really peaked our curiosity and we just HAD to order them.
The scones are baked and served in small terracotta flower pots. The fluffy dough bursts over the top of the pot. Simply break of a chunk of scone, smear it with raspberry jam and some cream, and you’re in for a treat. My one complaint was that whipped cream out of a bottle was used, instead of double thick cream. King Island Cream would’ve been perfect.
Next time you’re in the mountains, stop in at the Wayzgoose. Their scones are tasty – as are their hot chocolates and pot pies. |
