SimYou Are A Dog by Terry Bain All dog lovers will adore this book. The second I saw the cover and read the blurb, I knew I had to have it. It is about life through a dog’s eyes and has hilarious chapters on all sorts of topics. You will laugh your whole way through this book. It is probably wise not to read this one in public as people will stare as you hoot with laughter. That’s exactly what happened to me – so I thought I’d pass on the advice. Don’t let that stop you reading it though! It’s a ripper! |

TimThe Walking Dead by Gerald Seymour Gerald Seymour is one of the few writers I have found that knows how to write an excellent thriller. The Walking Dead is a novel about a dangerous terror plot in the U.K. In a nutshell, a young Saudi boy, motivated by the deaths of two brothers, travels to England and is equipped to become a suicide bomber. Security forces in the U.K work against the clock to stop the boy killing innocent people. This tiny plot run-down does not give justice to the intricate plotlines that are carefully interwoven all through this novel. Seymour is a master of maintaining several different storylines and characters throughout the course of a 600-page book. The Walking Dead has been quite simply plotted almost to perfection, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. |
CarlyWalking The Camino by Tony Kevin This story is a personal account of walking the infamous ‘road to Santiago’ by 63-year-old, fellow Australian Tony Kevin. It’s a great book for anyone interested not only in taking part in a pilgrimage, but for all travellers who know only too well that the road is not always easy. The author gives great descriptions of his European surroundings, but I did find he overdid it with the Spanish history which left me bored at times. |
